The young mother eagerly awaits the moment when she will breastfeed her baby. Will she be successful as she breastfeeds for the first time? The mother should not get too excited about this. midwife or nurse; can help the mother by giving the necessary information.

In the first days, the mother gives the breast where she lies. For this, she lies slightly on her side and gives her breast on the side she lies on. The baby is laid face down on the breast. Meanwhile, the baby's head rests on a pillow on the inside of the mother's elbow. With the thumb and index finger of her free hand, the mother holds her breast slightly below the mammary gland, puts the nipple into the baby's mouth, with the other four fingers she gently lifts the breast from the bottom and presses lightly on the top of the mammary sponge with her thumb. When the baby's lips touch the nipple, the baby instinctively opens his mouth and starts to suckle. During breastfeeding, care should be taken not to close the baby's nostrils with the breast. This is very important as babies only breathe through their noses. Some clumsy movements of the mother and baby are eliminated immediately with the warnings of the midwife or nurse.

If the mother can stand up, she sits down and gives the breast. For this, the mother gives breasts according to her will. The mother sits in a chair with a back, spreads a clean cloth on her lap, then picks up the baby. The baby's head rests on the pillow on the inside of the mother's elbow.

The nursing mother will feel more comfortable if she puts a stool under her feet. In this case, he will prevent him from bending down too much and he will not have any complaints from back pain.

Important Rules in Breastfeeding:

1) Breastfeeding mother should wash her hands thoroughly first.

2) The nipples should be wiped and cleaned carefully before the baby is taken to breast-feeding.

3) The breasts should be completely emptied at each feeding. If the baby is unable to empty the breasts, the breasts should be emptied with a breast pump after breastfeeding.

4) The baby should not suckle for more than twenty minutes. Outside of this period, the baby is not likely to get much milk. Most of the milk is absorbed in the first 5-10 minutes. After twenty minutes, the baby does not suckle, just nibbles on the nipple. As a result, the nipples become irritated and red.

5) It should comply with breastfeeding hours as much as possible.

6) As a result of breastfeeding, the baby should be kept upright for a while to allow him to burp and pass gas. The mother rests the baby's tummy on her shoulder and gently pats her back on her butt. and should help the baby to pass gas by stroking the back area. Babies can swallow air while drinking milk. swallowed air must be removed before it passes through the intestines so that this air does not cause pain in the intestines later on. A piece of milk may also come out during burping. There is nothing wrong with that.

7) Breasts should be kept very clean. Bras should be changed frequently. Care should be taken that the bra fits the breasts well and does not squeeze the breasts. Sterile breast pads or gauze can be placed on the nipples so that the milk overflowing from the breast does not contaminate the bra.

8) After each feeding, a softening cream or ointment should be applied to prevent sore nipples. During breastfeeding, the nipples should be cleaned carefully and thoroughly.

9) The nursing mother does not need special protection. The mother should sleep as much as possible and should not get stressed or angry. Nervous stress can negatively affect sleep milk quality and quantity. The mother must be well fed; should be fed a balanced, natural and beneficial diet.
