1. Monitor Your Menstrual Cycle and Ovulation Timing
The highest probability of conception occurs during the ovulation period.
Ovulation typically takes place approximately 14 days before the onset of the next menstrual cycle.
Menstrual tracking applications, ovulation predictor kits, or basal body temperature monitoring may assist in identifying the fertile window.
2. Engage in Regular and Properly Timed Intercourse
It is recommended to begin intercourse 2–3 days prior to ovulation, preferably on alternate days.
Daily intercourse may reduce sperm quality; therefore, intercourse every other day is considered more optimal.
3. Maintain a Healthy and Balanced Diet
Adequate intake of folic acid (found in green leafy vegetables and legumes) is essential.
Consumption of foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, iron, zinc, and protein is recommended.
Excessive caffeine intake (more than one cup of coffee per day) and highly processed foods should be avoided.
4. Avoid Smoking, Alcohol, and Substance Use
Smoking negatively affects both ovulation and sperm quality.
Alcohol consumption reduces fertility and increases the risk of miscarriage.
5. Maintain an Optimal Body Weight
Being underweight or overweight may disrupt hormonal balance.
Regular, moderate physical activity is beneficial, whereas excessive exercise should be avoided.
6. Reduce Stress Levels
Chronic stress may interfere with hormonal regulation and delay ovulation.
Stress-reduction strategies such as meditation, walking, and breathing exercises may be beneficial.
7. Seek Medical Consultation When Necessary
If pregnancy does not occur after one year of unprotected intercourse (or six months for women aged 35 and older), consultation with a gynecologist is recommended.
Diagnostic evaluations may include hormonal assessments, ultrasonography, or semen analysis.
8. Use Folic Acid Supplementation
It is recommended to initiate 400 mcg of folic acid daily at least one month prior to conception, following medical advice.
