Effect of Salt Use on Children:

Salt is known as a delicious and addictive sweetener that does not contribute to development. While salt consumption is not a problem for adults and adults as long as it is not consumed excessively, consumption of children and infants may cause some diseases/diseases. Salt consumption can cause negative effects in children and babies whose body is not resistant to acidic food consumption.

Salt, which is used by children to add flavor to the foods they consume for the development of babies, can also destroy the effects of the nutritional elements that the child should take. Since the acidic salt taken into the body can affect the underdeveloped organs in children and babies, it can cause certain diseases in the child and baby. Therefore, salt consumption of children and babies should be minimized. Salt should not be added in the consumption of foods containing iron and calcium nutrients in order to progress in a controlled manner during the development phase.

Why Salt Is Not Given to 0-1 Year Old Babies:

We mentioned above that salt consumption can affect sensitive organs. The age group in which sensitive organs are most common is infants aged 1 to 1 year. The development of a newborn baby; can provide with breast milk and additional nutrients. In this process, if salt is added to the foods given to the baby, it is easy to reach sensitive organs and cause major problems in these organs. During the first six months, the baby should be fed completely with breast milk and then complete its development with breast milk and additional nutrients. If salt is used in this process, even if the amount of salt is low, it will make the baby addicted.

Ongoing salt consumption can cause organs to lose their function. It is recommended by experts not to consume salt in babies until the developmental period is completed. In addition to salt consumption, it is also recommended not to consume sugar for the same age group. Just like salt, sugar consumption affects the development of the baby negatively in this process. In addition, sugar consumption can harm the immune system in infants. As a result, a number of diseases such as flu and cold can occur in the baby.

When Should Babies Start Complementary Foods?

After giving breast milk for the first six months, other complementary foods can be applied with the advice of a doctor. The frequency of consumption of the recommended foods can also be learned with the opinion of the doctor. At the end of six months, the foods that are safe to consume will provide the baby with the opportunity to benefit from different food sources. Babies who are weaned from mother's milk should also be given the necessary nutrients until the development process is over. Consumption of sweeteners such as salt and sugar will not be a problem after the approval of the doctor that it will not pose any problem as a result of the development of the organs.
